These are excerpts from the
guidelines and in summary X would
point but that our system is very
simple. If you wish to make a gift;
first obtain an information form
from any of the Board members or officers. Fill out the form as completely as possible and return it to
me so I can submit it to the;' Accession Committee, If it pertains to
local history in some way and is not.

After approval and acceptance we
will arrange to receive the object
and complete the gift agreement.
Please use your judgment concerning the historical value and be assured the Board of Directors will
welcome your consideration of a gift
that will enhance the Museum for now

ELECTION OF OFFICERS FOR 1931 f
We have an increasing number of
people inquiring about procedures
''adding to the collection in our Museum.
They have objects to give and want to
know the steps to take for making the
donation.
The Board of Directors approved a
set of guidelines for the mangement of
the Museum and in Article II of the
By-Laws the basic guideline states:
"The Grand River Historical Society
and Museum is organized for the purpose of collecting materials about the
life of this area from earliest settlements, to preserve some for present
showing, and for all times, and to receive gifts and donations to carry on
these activities. No member shall receive any compensation from such gifts
or funds."
The guideline further states that
the scope of the material in the collections should pertain to Livingston
County and area history in order to
avoid an accumulation of objects much
too diversified and miscellaneous and
irrelevant to local history. All material accepted by the Museum should
be accompanied by authoritative knowledge of its relevance to local history.
All material presented to the
Museum will become a public heritage
held in trust by the Museum for the
benefit of the present and future citizens of the community. The tran-

of several helpers. We need help in
